Kinds of Water Forms

Ponds

A pond is a body of standing water surrounded by land. It is smaller than a lake.

Water lily is an example of plants that grow in ponds. Dragonflies, water scorpions, and frogs are among the animals that thrive in or close to ponds. This is because pond water is still and stagnant, making it a good habitat for water-borne insects and for the animals that feed on these insects.

Waterfalls

A waterfall is a body of water that falls from a high place. Water that comes from a lake, spring, stream, creek, brook, or river and passes through cliffs, mountains, and other high places form a waterfall. The water from the waterfall then flows to a brook or river on to a sea. In the Philippines, examples of this water form are the Pagsanjan Falls in Laguna and Tinago Falls in Lanao del Norte in Mindanao.
