Wedge

The wedge consists of at least one slanting side ending in a sharp edge, which breaks or cuts things apart. It is a moving inclined plane. The pointed edge of the inclined plane can be used to push things apart. Knives, scissors, and chisels are examples of wedges.

Screw

The screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder. It holds things together or lifts objects. As the screw is turned around by a tool such as a screwdriver, it separates the wood or metal from the surface to which they are attached. Nuts and bolts, drill bits, jackscrews, wrenches, and corkscrews are examples of screws.
