Lever
A lever is a stiff bar that pivots or turns at a fixed point. It lifts or moves objects. This simple machine shows a downward motion at one end and an upward motion at the other end.
Parts of a lever
A lever has three parts.
- The fulcrum (F) is the fixed point at which the lever pivots or turns.
- The effort force (E) is the force that you provide as you use the lever.
- The resistance force (R) is the force that you and the lever are working against.
