The White Blood Cells (WBCs)
White blood cells are colorless and irregularly shaped. WBCs have the ability to squeeze through capillaries and enter surrounding tissues. They defend the body against infections and diseases.
The Platelets
Platelets are small and irregularly shaped. They help the blood clot when the body is wounded, thereby preventing it from losing too much blood. The platelets activate a chemical that combines with calcium salts and fibrinogen to form threadlike fibers. These fibers prevent the flow of blood from the wound by forming a clot.
