The Philippines is home to an interesting mix of domesticated and wild animals that include endangered animal species such as the pawikan in Palawan, tarsier in Bohol, Philippine eagle and flying lemur in Mindanao, and tamaraw in Mindoro.

The archipelago is also an area rich in rare plant species. One of these is the rafflesia, the world’s largest flower and of which ten species are found only in the Philippines. The flower grows in Bicol, Compostela Valley, Kalinga, Laguna, Panay, Quezon, Quirino, and South Cotabato.
