Kinds of Landforms
Plains
A plain is a wide, flat area of land. It is an excellent place for farming and for building homes. An example of this in the Philippines is Central Luzon, where Filipinos grow rice, corn, sugarcane, fruit trees, and vegetables.
Plains are also favorable for raising common farm animals like carabaos, cows, horses, goats, and chickens.
Islands
An island is a large piece of land completely surrounded by water. The Philippines is made up of more than 7,000 islands and among these are those whose natural beauty continues to attract both local and foreign tourists. The more interesting islands include those that comprise Palawan, Guimaras, and Boracay.
Plants and animals that can be found in the islands of the Philippines include domesticated farm animals. However, animals like crocodiles, wild pigs, monkeys, and the like are also found on Philippine islands, particularly those that are uninhabited by people, along with such plants as ferns, wild orchids, and different varieties of trees.
Peninsulas
A peninsula is a body of land surrounded by water on its three sides. In the Philippines, Bicol and Zamboanga are examples of a peninsula. Another example is the San Ildefonso peninsula that is part of the province of Aurora.
In these Philippine peninsulas, plants grown include coconut, abaca, banana, coffee, jackfruit, and pili. They are also home to common farm animals like horses, cattle, carabaos, and goats.
