Sometimes, it is convenient to use different scales for the x- and y-axes. For example, to graph the points $A(1,350),$ $B(3,100),$ and $C(-4.5,200),$ it is convenient to use different scales for the axes, as shown in the figure below.

Note that the unit lengths that are marked off on the x-axis have an interval of 1 unit, while the unit lengths that are marked off on the y-axis have an interval of 50 units.
