Now you will learn how to plot the point associated with a given ordered pair. Consider an ordered pair $(x,y).$ On the x-axis, draw a vertical line through the point that corresponds to point x. On the y-axis, draw a horizontal line through the point that corresponds to point y. The point of intersection of these lines is the point associated with the ordered pair $(x,y).$

Suppose you need to plot the point that is associated with the ordered pair $\left(-\frac{10}{3},2\right).$ To do that, draw a vertical line that passes through the point on the x-axis that is associated with $-\frac{10}{3}$ or $-3\frac{1}{3}.$ Then draw a horizontal line that is associated with 2 on the y-axis. The point of intersection of these two lines is the point that is associated with the ordered pair $-\frac{10}{3}$ or $-3\frac{1}{3},$ as shown in the figure below.
