Now you will learn how to plot the point associated with a given ordered pair. Consider an ordered pair (x,y). On the x-axis, draw a vertical line through the point that corresponds to point x. On the y-axis, draw a horizontal line through the point that corresponds to point y. The point of intersection of these lines is the point associated with the ordered pair (x,y).

Suppose you need to plot the point that is associated with the ordered pair ( 10 3 , 2 ). To do that, draw a vertical line that passes through the point on the x-axis that is associated with 10 3 or 3 1 3 . Then draw a horizontal line that is associated with 2 on the y-axis. The point of intersection of these two lines is the point that is associated with the ordered pair 10 3 or 3 1 3 , as shown in the figure below.
