Mammals

Mammals have hair and milk producing mammary glands. They care for, nurse, and feed their young until they are capable of finding food for themselves. The hair on their bodies are mainly for protection and insulation. Examples of mammals are cattle, lions, horses, giraffes, racoons, monkeys, dolphins, bats, rats, and elephants.

There are three groups of mammals - monotromes, marsupials, and placental mammals.

Monotremes

Monotremes are mammals that lay eggs on the ground. When the eggs hatch, the young feed on the milk from modified sweat glands on the abdomen of their parents. Platypus and anteaters are examples of monotromes.
