Vegetative Parts of Plants
Tubers
A tuber is an enlarged underground stem. The tiny holes on its surface are its "eyes" or nodes. Buds and roots appear from the nodes once the tuber is planted into the soil. The buds grow into new plants.
Rhizomes
A rhizome is a juicy underground stem. It grows horizontally near the surface of the ground. Its fleshy part stores food like those of corms and tubers. New plants grow from its nodes.
