Vegetative Parts of Plants

Runners

Runners, also called stolons, are stems that grow horizontally above the ground. The nodes of runners develop plantlets, which grow into new plants. This happens when the stem that bears the nodes touches the soil.

Leaves

When leaves fall on or touch the ground, plantlets grow from their margins or edges. Bryophyllum, begonias, and katakataka plants have leaves that can develop into new plants.
