Congruence in Isosceles Triangles

Example

Prove that the median to the base of an isosceles triangle is also the angle bisector of the triangle at the vertex angle.

Solution
Given: Isosceles triangle ABC
CD ¯ is a median of ΔABC.
Prove:
CD ¯ is an angle bisector of ΔABC at vertex angle C.

Proof:

In an equilateral triangle, the median, angle bisector, altitude, and perpendicular bisector from each vertex coincide.
