Phases of the Moon
Crescent Moon Phase
During the crescent moon phase, the portion of the moon that you can see assumes the shape of a crescent or a banana. During this phase, the moon has moved slightly and is no longer directly in front of Earth.
Quarter Moon Phase
You can see half of the sunlit side of the moon during the quarter moon phase. During this phase, the moon has moved a quarter turn around Earth, so it is no longer directly shadowing Earth.
