Practices and Beliefs About the Moon

Aside from having folktales about the moon, many Filipinos are also very superstitious and still cling to traditional practices and beliefs related to the moon. They are still strongly rooted to superstitions, which they believe could help them deal with day-to-day occurences.

According to Filipino beliefs, the phase of the moon is crucial to planning certain events. For instance, finding a job during days when the moon is full rather than during new moon is better. The dates of a wedding or settling to a new house are also set on days approaching the full moon for good luck.

Nowadays, because of the discoveries made by scientists, people have a greater understanding of the moon and the natural events it undergoes.
