Reasons for Proper Waste Management

Undisposed wastes pose a serious threat to the environment. They cause land, water, and air pollution. The presence of wastes in one ecosystem affects the components of that ecosystem. The effects in that specific ecosystem will be felt by other ecosystems.

Wastes pose serious health problems

You are affected by things in your surroundings. You are affected by the air that you breathe, the food that you eat, and the water that you drink. Living in an unclean environment makes people sick. Diseases easily develop and spread in a dirty environment.

Different materials react to the same elements in different ways

Because different materials react differently to the same factors such as heat or oxygen, these materials must be grouped together in order to make waste management safer.

Materials that are highly combustible should not be mixed with materials that combust slower, as any exposure to fire will result in the burning of all materials, regardless of their rate of combustion.
