Proper Disposal of Waste Materials

4. Waste Materials

  1. Never touch harmful wastes, which should be properly disposed of by an adult. Harmful waste materials can cause injury, disease, or death to people. Dumping off of these materials on land contaminates the soil and ground water.
  2. Never wash away or flush waste materials into sinks or toilet bowls because this may cause corrosion in the plumbing.

5. Medicines

  1. Medicines are substances that are made up of a combination of chemicals and other components. When you have to take medicines, remember to follow your doctor’s advice on the amount of medicine you have to take and the correct time to take it. Always take the medicine with the supervision of an adult.

6. Decaying Materials

  1. When handling decaying materials, remember to take the necessary precautions. Decaying materials release high amounts of bacteria that can cause serious health concerns if you get them into your body. You can ingest these materials when you handle and take in food with your hands that have been contaminated by the materials. As much as possible, use gloves when handling decaying materials. Then wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water afterward.
