Kinds of Plants

There are many kinds of plants. Some are small while others are big. Some plants live for hundreds of years, while others wither and die after only one season. Among the different kinds of plants are trees, shrubs, herbs, and vines. Each of these plants have parts that may be the same or different from those of other plants.

Trees

A tree is a plant that is big and tall and generally lives for many years. It has a main woody stem that is called trunk. Its roots are long and big. Most trees bear flowers and produce fruits. Examples of trees are mango, coconut, and narra.

Shrubs

A shrub looks like a small tree. It has several woody stems and hard fibrous roots. Most shrubs are flowering plants. Unlike trees, they live for a few years only. Examples of shrubs are santan, gumamela, rose, and rosal.
