Mechanical Waves

Waves are not just confined to disturbances on water. If you have seen a flag flying in the wind, you may have noticed how the flag’s cloth makes “waves” in the wind. These waves, along with those made on bodies of water, are classified as mechanical waves, or types of waves that require a medium in which to travel.
