Outer Planets
Saturn
Saturn, the second largest planet, is named after the Roman god of agriculture. It is the sixth planet from the sun. Saturn is approximately 121,536 km in diameter and about 1,426.73 million km
away from the sun.
Saturn turns on its axis for about 10 hours and 40 minutes. A day on this planet is less than half a day on Earth. On the other hand, Saturn takes approximately 10,759.2 days to complete one revolution around the sun. This means that it takes Saturn around 29.45 Earth years to complete one revolution.
Like the other outer planets, Saturn is a gas giant because it does not have a solid surface. Its atmosphere is mostly made up of gases that include helium and hydrogen.
Saturn has seven well-known flat rings made up of ice particles. It has the biggest and most visible rings that horizontally spin around the planet.
Out of the 62 moons discovered in Saturn, only 53 moons are officially named. Titan, Atlas, and Calypso are some of these moons. Titan is Saturn’s biggest satellite. It is the second biggest satellite among the satellites of all the planets in the solar system.
