The Heart

The heart is made up of cardiac muscles. It is about as big as your fist. It works like a pump by contracting and relaxing.

The heart has two sides, the left and the right sides, that are completely separated by a structure called the septum. The blood in the heart does not mix because each side pumps blood separately.
