Diarrhea

Diarrhea is characterized by the frequent release of watery feces. This is due to the infection of the gastrointestinal tract caused by eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water.

Frequent watery stools may leave body cells dehydrated. A person with diarrhea should be given an oral redehydration solution to replace the water and electrolytes lost during dehydration.
