Caring for the Reproductive System

  1. Avoid smoking.
In males, smoking can cause impotence, infertility, and sterility. Smoking also increases the likelihood of having cancer of the penis. In females, smoking can damage the ovaries, interfere with the production of estrogen, and make the egg cells prone to genetic abnormalities.
  1. Have the habit of washing your genitals properly and regularly
For uncircumcised males, this includes retracting the foreskin to wash the sections around the glans of the penis.
  1. For females, use clean sanitary napkins during your menstrual periods
Depending on the heaviness of your period, you may change your napkin several times during the day. This is a good practice to prevent odors and infections. Make sure to wrap your napkin properly before throwing it in the trash can.
  1. Take time to reduce stress by engaging in a hobby or other activities you enjoy
In males, stress can reduce sperm count and cause impotence. In females, stress can interrupt or even stop menstrual cycle.
  1. Visit your doctor regularly
Visit your doctor especially if you feel that something is wrong with your reproductive system. Follow your doctor's advice on taking care of this body system.
