Effects on People
Too much exposure to the sun’s heat without the proper protection may also cause sunburn, or extreme redness and irritation of the skin brought about by damage to the skin cells. Sunburn is characterized by small painful skin blisters that peel off after a couple of days after exposure. Many children get sunburn after playing under the sun for a long time.
Prolonged exposure to the sun can also damage the tissues of the eyes and cause such conditions as snow blindness and cataracts. Snow blindness is the term for a temporary condition in which the eyes feel like they sting all the time while a cataract is a form of eye damage that leads to blindness.
