Animal Habitats

The polar bear is another desert animal but it is found in the cold deserts of the Arctic region. Underneath its thick coat of white fur, this huge animal also has a thick layer of fat. Its fur and fat help to keep the polar bear warm in the cold desert, where it lies on the ice as it preys on seals and fish for its food. With its white fur, it blends in perfectly with the white snow and ice.

Other animals that have made their homes in dry deserts are ostriches, scorpions, Gila monsters, and some species of deer and lions. On the other hand, cold deserts are inhabited by such animals as foxes, seals, walruses, and wolves.
