2. Liquid

Matter that is in the liquid state does not have definite size and shape and instead takes the shape or its container. This is because the molecules of a liquid are close together. With this arrangement, the molecules move around slowly. Water is the most common example of liquids.

Like solids, liquids occupy space and can be measured using instruments such as droppers, measuring cups, beakers, and cylinders. Liquids also have definite volume and weight.
