Fundamental Principle of Counting
In the previous lesson, you learned how to list all the elements of the sample space of a given experiment. In dealing with probability, it is important to know the number of elements of the sample space or the event.
Consider an experiment with k operations. Suppose the first operation can be performed in ways, the second operation in ways, and so on. Then the entire experiment can be performed in
ways.
This counting technique is called the Fundamental Principle of Counting.
