Object Pronouns

Object pronouns differ from subject pronouns in form.

Subject Pronoun Object Pronoun Examples
I me I told my uncle not to buy the ticket for me.
he him He went with him to the show.
she her She watched the movie with her friend.
we us We asked the teacher to allow us to watch the match.
they them They gave them their old books.

In the examples above, the subject pronoun is found at the beginning of the sentence and the object pronoun comes after a verb or a preposition.

The pronouns you and it can be used either as subject pronouns or object pronouns.

Examples:

  • You like to play football. (Subject pronoun)
  • Kate wants to speak with you. (Object pronoun)
  • It is a pleasant day. (Subject pronoun)
  • Please take it with you. (Object pronoun)
