Main Types of Cells
Prokaryotic Cells
Prokaryotic cells are minute, measuring only about 1 to 10 micrometers or microns (μm) and may be single-, colonial, or many-celled. Examples of prokaryotes are bacteria and archaea, organisms that were originally believed to live only in environments with extreme conditions but were later found living in all types of habitats. They may be single-celled or colonial, or cells that are part of a colony or group of single cells.
