Connective Tissues

Connective tissue is made up of cells and fibers that are always embedded in an intercellular matrix. It is the most diverse of all animal tissues, as the kind of matrix distinguishes the kind of connective tissue. The matrix may be liquid, semisolid, or solid. Connective tissues include blood, lymph, connective tissue proper, cartilage, and bone. Blood and lymph transport nutrients, gases, hormones, and other chemicals throughout the body, while connective tissue proper, cartilage, and bone provide support and movement.

Muscle and Nervous Tissues

Muscle tissue is used by the body to contract its skeletal parts. Nervous tissue enables the body to react to stimuli and conducts nerve impulses to various parts of the body.
