Components of the Investigatory Problem
Data Organization
In the investigatory process, observations are called data, which can be classified as qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data refers to pieces of information that are not in numerical form and therefore include observations on color, odor, sound, taste, texture, and the like. On the other hand, quantitative data refers to information that is numerical and include observations on measurements, sizes, dimensions, and the like.
For data to be understandable and therefore appreciated by others, they have to be organized. Data organization can take several forms. For instance, both qualitative and quantitative data can be presented in the form of tables or charts. Quantitative data can also be organized in an interesting manner with the use of graphs.
