Things that provide light are called light sources. Light sources can be natural or artificial.
Natural Sources
Natural sources of light are those that are not produced by people. The primary source of natural light is the sun, which produces large amounts of light energy. Other stars also produce light energy, although Earth receives this in smaller amounts compared to that from the sun because they are much farther from Earth. The moon is also another source although its light is just reflected from the sun.
Natural light energy can also come from some animals such as fireflies, glowworms, jellyfish, and fishes from deep parts of the sea. These animals have body parts that give off flashes of light in the dark.
Artificial Sources
Artificial sources of light are those that people create. Electric bulbs, flashlights, candles, and lamps are among the examples of artificial sources of light.
Light bulbs, flashlights, and candles are artificial sources of light that people use almost every day.
