Luminous and Nonluminous Objects
Luminous Objects
Objects that produce their own light are called luminous objects. The sun and stars are bodies in outer space that are naturally luminous. Fireflies are also naturally luminous.
Lamps, torches, candles, flashlights, burning charcoal, and light bulbs are objects that are artificially luminous.
Some luminous objects give off white light when they are connected to a source of electricity. An example is the fluorescent lamp. Still other luminous objects contain materials that make them glow in the dark. Examples of these are some toys, ball pens, wristwatches, and other accessories.
Nonluminous Objects
Nonluminous objects are objects that cannot produce their own light and do not glow in the dark. Examples of these objects are paper, wood, glass, and plastic.
