Introduction

Look around you. What do you see? You may see people around you. You may also find plants and animals in your surroundings. These are among those called living things.

Then you may also see and find things that do not move or respond to you the way some living things do. These are among those called nonliving things.

Living things are distinguished mainly by the things they need to survive, their ability to move by themselves, their ability to reproduce, and their ability to respond to changes.
