Logic and Deductive Reasoning

Logic is used in deductive reasoning. As previously mentioned, deductive reasoning refers to reasoning logically from accepted statements to a conclusion. It usually starts with a general statement and proceeds to particular cases. If the given accepted statements are true, deductive reasoning always produces a correct conclusion.

Definition

Deductive reasoning is a type of reasoning that begins with accepted general statements from which a conclusion is drawn.

You use deductive reasoning in solving problems and equations in algebra such as in providing reasons for each step in the procedure.
