Graph the equation y=3 on a coordinate plane.



Solution

The equation y=3 can be written as 0x+y=3. Observe that the ordered pair in the form (k,3), where k is any real number, satisfies the given equation. The graph of y=3 is, therefore, a horizontal line whose y-intercept is equal to 3, as shown in the figure below.
