The answer to the riddle is very obvious. It is the pronoun she. The word she and such words as I, he, they, it, her ,them, his, him, you, me, we, and us are called pronouns. A pronoun is used to replace a noun. By using pronouns, a sentence using nouns several times will not sound repetitive and awkward.
Examples:
Denise feels that Denise is no longer the little girl Denise's mother used to love.
Denise feels that she is no longer the little girl that her mother used to love.
The pronoun that takes the place of a noun is called personal pronoun.
This pronoun may be used as the subject, object of the verb or preposition. It may also show ownership or relationship.
