Introduction
The existence of an ecosystem is entirely dependent on the energy that circulates among the producers and consumers in it. To be able to function, an ecosystem has to have energy, which is derived from the sun. This energy is captured by plants through photosynthesis and is transformed into molecules that later make up food, which then becomes the source of energy for living things.
Energy is transferred throughout an ecosystem through the organisms that comprise the ecosystem’s food chains and food webs.
