Kinds of Sentences According to Specific Purposes

If your father asks you this question, how will you answer him?

Where are you going tomorrow?

You can easily answer him with a phrase, like "The mall," or "The grocery with mom," but we learned before that phrases do not have a complete thought or idea. When responding to questions, it is better to use sentences, which gives a complete thought and conveys a complete idea.

Knowing that sentences are better responses than phrases, these will be better responses to the question above:

I am going to the mall tomorrow.
I am going with mom to the supermarket.
I am not going anywhere, Dad. I am staying home tomorrow.

Notice that the responses above are complete sentences. Notice also that the responses use some of the words that are used in the question, such as going and tomorrow. This is a good way to make your responses clear, so that the person who asked the question will have an easier time in understanding your response.
