Subject and Predicate
The complete subject consists of the person or thing being talked about in a sentence, including its modifiers.
The complete predicate tells something about the subject. This part is made up of the verb and the rest of the sentence, which is not part of the subject.
Examples:
- My older brother helps me with my project every month.
- My loving mother prepares food for us every day.
- My sister assists me in my daily homework.
- My father finds time to share his jokes with us before dinner.
- My good friend shares her food with me during recess.
In the first sentence, my older brother is the complete subject. My and older describe or modify brother, the one being talked about.
The complete subject consists of the person or thing being talked about, including its modifiers.
In the second sentence, the complete subject is also made up of three words - my loving mother. Mother is preceded by two modifiers that go with the subject - my and loving.
In the third sentence, the complete subject is made up of two words - my sister. Sister is preceded by one modifier that goes with the subject - my.
Similarly in the fourth sentence, my father is the complete subject. In the fifth sentence, my good friend is the complete subject.
In the first sentence, the complete predicate consists of the action word or verb helps and all the words that go with it - me with my project every month.
