Past Tense of Verbs

Irregular verbs are verbs that also show past actions. They are formed not by adding -d or -ed but by changing their spelling.

Examples:

  • My brother drew a knight.
  • He brought it to school yesterday.
  • It caught the attention of his classmates.
  • He said that he would draw other figures.
  • The art teachers gave him more tips in drawing.

The words drew, brought, caught, said, and gave are verbs in the past tense. Their base forms are draw, bring, catch, say, and give. They are irregular verbs.
